Stamping is a forming and processing method of workpiece (stamping part) with required shape and size by applying external force to plate, strip, pipe and profile by press and die to produce plastic deformation or separation.
Stamping is mainly classified by process, which can be divided into separation process and forming process. The purpose of the separation process (blanking process) is to separate the stamping parts from the sheet along a certain contour line and ensure the quality requirements of the separation section. Separation process: blanking (blanking, punching), shearing, cutting, trimming and sectioning.
When the die clearance is normal, the blanking process of metal materials can be divided into three stages:
1. Elastic deformation stage: the sheet metal of stamping parts produces elastic compression, bending and stretching deformation. When a material is subjected to an external force, it produces deformation or dimensional change, and the deformation that can be recovered is called elastic deformation.
2. Plastic deformation stage of the precision metal stamping: when the stress of the sheet reaches the yield limit, the sheet begins to produce plastic shear deformation. It refers to the deformation of the material under the action of external force and cannot be recovered after the external force is removed.
3. Fracture separation stage: the formed crack extends into the material along the direction of maximum strain velocity and develops in a wedge shape.
